Education Support Working Group
All children are different and some may need extra support either at specific moments or throughout their school careers. The European Schools are required to provide educational support to children based on their specific needs, from special talents to physical or intellectual disabilities.
- General support is short-term assistance for pupils who may be experiencing difficulty in a particular aspect of a subject, may need to ‘catch up’ due to late arrival in school or illness or may be working in their non-mother tongue. It is based on a Group Learning Plan (GLP).
- Moderate support is longer-term assistance for pupils with a mild learning difficulty or in need of more targeted support. It is based on an Individual Learning Plan (ILP).
- Intensive support is provided for two distinct groups also based on an ILP:
- A – on an ongoing basis for pupils with special educational (learning, emotional, behavioural or physical) needs.
- B – on a short-term basis for pupils with an acute educational need, e.g. language to access the curriculum.

OUR NEW BUDDY SYSTEM
We are excited to introduce the Parent Buddy System, a supportive network for parents of children with special educational needs at our school. This initiative is designed to connect families, offering opportunities to mentor others, seek guidance, or do both—creating a community of shared experiences and mutual support.
How It Works:
- Be a Mentor: Share your experiences and provide advice to parents navigating similar challenges.
- Ask for Help: Reach out to a mentor who has walked the path before you and gain valuable insights.
- Do Both: Many parents choose to give and receive support simultaneously—building a stronger, more connected community.
There’s no time limit to participate—parents can sign up at any time to suit their needs.
Sign up to a group in whatsApp: https://chat.whatsapp.com/LyQpxQzO3q0HGiHqVTNl2h

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to email us at office@apeeel1.lu. Whether you’re looking for support, offering your help, or simply curious, we’re here to assist.
Together, we can create a positive, inclusive environment where every family feels supported.
